Editorial Services

Whether you're self publishing or already have a publishing contract, I offer a wide range of editorial services to fit your needs and budget. Please note, I only edit works of non-fiction. If you are  searching for a fiction editor, copy-editor, or proofreader, I suggest you check out New York Book Editors, Reedsy, The Pub Pros, or Gotham Ghostwriters.

Consulting: Never published a book before? Do you want to know whether self-publishing or traditional publishing is right for you? Looking for an agent but don't know where to start? For an hourly rate, I will talk to you and offer specific advice and insight based on your particular project. Click here to book an initial consultation.

Developmental Editing: Looking for some honest, straightforward, unbiased, and constructive feedback on your proposal, manuscript, or sample chapters? I will review your work and provide editorial feedback (in the form of an editorial letter and/or marginal comments) that will help you sharpen your thesis, shape your outline, improve your tone, and identify what makes your book different from the rest.

Line Editing: Maybe your manuscript is in pretty good shape developmentally, but you've looked at it so many times your eyes are crossing and you could use someone with a fresh set of peepers to take it to the next level. I will go through your material line-by-line to tighten sentences, reduce repetition, and offer specific feedback to improve clarity and flow. Please note that while line editing often includes some light copy-editing, you will want to hire a professional copy-editor to check your grammar, punctuation, and spelling and ensure consistency throughout your manuscript.

Ghostwriting or Co-Writing: A ghostwriter or co-writer helps an author write the book he or she envisions while staying true to the author's voice and message. This sort of collaboration requires close communication between the author and writer and is a great choice for professionals who want to write a book for their brand, business, or organization or anyone who has a great idea for a book but lacks the time to actually put pen to paper.

Self-Publishing: Traditional publishing is not always the best path to getting your book out in the world. If you’re interested in self-publishing your book but don’t know where to start, I can help. I can walk you through the process of publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing, Ingramspark, Draft2Digital, or other platforms. I can also help you locate and hire the best freelance designers (interior and cover), copy editors, and proofreaders and advise on hybrid publishing or other services that are available to aspiring authors.

Disclaimer: Working with me does not guarantee that you'll get a contract with an agent or publisher. All services described above are offered on a freelance basis only and I make no claim to represent any publisher or other business with which I may have an affiliation or relationship.
